Welcome to Sam's Speech House
I'm so glad you found me. If you're here, you may be wondering whether your child's speech is developing as expected — or perhaps you've noticed communication feels harder than it should. I offer personalised speech pathology for young children and their families, in a small home-based clinic in Toowong.
A clinic that feels like coming home
Sam's Speech House has been intentionally designed to feel warm, calm, and welcoming — far removed from a typical clinical environment. One of my favourite things is seeing how quickly children move from feeling like they're attending an appointment to happily saying, "Let's go to Sam's house."
Specialist expertise in cleft & complex speech
Experience supporting children with cleft palate, resonance differences, velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD), craniofacial conditions, tongue tie, and other complex speech presentations.
A dedicated focus on speech sound disorders
Clinical interest in supporting children who are difficult to understand and have developmental speech sound disorders — articulation, phonology, and motor speech presentations.
Tongue tie assessment & guidance
Holistic assessment of tongue structure and function to help guide management, informed by additional training in Orofacial Myology — for families seeking balanced, evidence-informed guidance.
Big hospital expertise, personalised care
Specialist experience gained in leading tertiary paediatric hospitals, including close collaboration with medical, surgical, and interprofessional teams — delivered with boutique warmth.
Second opinions welcome
Support for families and professionals seeking second opinions or specialist input for more complex speech presentations.
A purpose-built clinic, home-like feel
Sessions take place in a dedicated clinical space designed to feel calm and comfortable, helping children and families feel at ease from the moment they arrive.
An intentionally small caseload
Availability for a limited number of families at a time, so every child receives highly personalised, thoughtful care.
Saturday appointments
Weekend appointments designed to support busy families and make therapy more accessible.
A golden welcome
Our gentle Golden Retriever, Fiona (or Noni to her friends), may occasionally offer a friendly hello from upstairs.
From families we've worked with
You came into our story at a time when we were genuinely very worried about our son's talking journey. You immediately put us at ease, and he showed almost immediate progress — a weight lifted off us.
— Parents of a 3 year old
Thank you so much for your time and care with these sessions. She works very well with you — thank you for being so engaging.

12+ years supporting children and families
I'm Sam, a paediatric speech pathologist with over 12 years of experience supporting children and families across rural Queensland, Brisbane, and London.
My approach combines evidence-based practice, creativity, and strong relationships. I believe the best therapy is not only grounded in science, but also practical, engaging, and deeply family-centred.
I have a special interest in supporting young children with speech sound disorders, including children with cleft palate and craniofacial differences, allowing me to provide highly specialised and thoughtful care.
Becoming a parent has added another meaningful layer to how I work — deepening my appreciation for both the joy and complexity of family life, and reinforcing the importance of support that feels practical, compassionate, and realistic.

Three simple steps to get started
Get in touch
Send an enquiry and tell me a little about your child.
Initial chat
We'll have a short phone conversation to discuss your concerns and whether I'm the right fit. If I feel I don't have the right skills to work with your family, I'll help you find another skilled therapist.
Assessment & support
If appropriate, we'll book an assessment and create a clear plan together. My goal is for families to leave feeling more confident and less overwhelmed.
Ways therapy may be funded
Every family's situation is different — get in touch and we can talk through what might apply to you. These government resources are a good starting point:
NDIS
Information on eligibility and how the National Disability Insurance Scheme can support speech therapy.
ndis.gov.au →Medicare (Chronic Condition Management)
Details on Medicare rebates for speech pathology via a GP-managed chronic condition plan.
servicesaustralia.gov.au →Private Health Insurance
Compare policies and check whether your extras cover includes speech pathology.
privatehealth.gov.au →Let's talk about your child
I intentionally work with a small number of families to provide personalised care. If you think we might be a good fit, I'd love to hear from you.
